Pecten shell geometry
Radiating ribs stiffen the curved skin so that wind, rain and impact loads are spread across the whole monocoque rather than concentrated at joints. Form does the structural work.
Elohim™ Shell Architecture
A monocoque shell dwelling inspired by the Pecten scallop — engineered for the tropical cyclone belt, self-sufficient in water and power, and designed to disappear into paradise.
The Concept
The sea has spent millions of years perfecting a structure that is light, strong and beautiful. The Elohim™ Shell borrows that answer.
Each dwelling takes its form from the Pecten — the scallop — whose radiating ribs let a paper-thin shell survive the surf. Translated into a single continuous monocoque, that geometry becomes a home with no frame, no columns and no weak seams: one sculpted form that carries its own loads and shrugs off the wind.
Set among palms and flowering gardens, a village of Elohim™ Shells reads less like a development and more like something the beach grew on its own — a tropical paradise aesthetic, without compromise on comfort or safety.
Interactive 3D Model
This is a live, fully interactive model of the Elohim™ Shell — not a rendering. Drag to orbit, scroll to zoom, then use the panel to lift the roof, drop the cyclone shutters, and try both interior configurations.
Interactive WebGL model — best on a desktop or tablet.

Also in the panel: interior view (roof cut), auto-orbit, front roller door, and a shell-finish palette from shell white to lagoon blue. Best experienced on desktop or a tablet in landscape.
Technology & Engineering
Conventional buildings resist storms by adding mass and bracing. The Elohim™ Shell resists them by shape — the same way a scallop does.
Radiating ribs stiffen the curved skin so that wind, rain and impact loads are spread across the whole monocoque rather than concentrated at joints. Form does the structural work.
Low, aerodynamic and continuous, the shell presents no flat walls or eaves for a cyclone to grip. Designed for the most severe tropical cyclone category, with storm shutters that close the openings and a solar array that folds away.
Because the skin carries the load, the entire floor plate is clear. One open-plan span — free to be a suite, a bunkhouse, a dining pavilion or a studio.
The shell is formed from a high-density expanded-polystyrene composite: exceptional thermal insulation for the tropics, and a fraction of the weight of masonry or concrete.
Lightweight components are transported to remote sites and assembled quickly with a small crew — ideal for islands, resorts and post-disaster deployment where heavy plant is not an option.
Off-Grid Self-Sufficiency
Every Elohim™ Shell is designed to stand alone — on a beach, on an island, or anywhere the grid doesn't reach.
A grated channel around the shell's footprint collects run-off from the entire roof surface, passes it through a first-flush diverter, and feeds a 25,000-litre underground reservoir — pumped back to the utility run on demand.
An integrated AWG draws drinking water directly from humid tropical air, giving residents a second, independent source of potable water in the dry season or after a storm.
The "solar flower" opens its petals to the sun by day and folds flat into a protected position when a storm approaches — power generation that gets out of the cyclone's way.
A buried septic system with leach drains treats waste water passively beneath the garden, with no pump-outs and no external services required.
How it goes together
Slide the shell apart into its factory-made parts and back together again. Click a pin to see what each part does.
Visual model for illustration only — part shapes, joints and counts are indicative, not manufacturing drawings.
Rain to reservoir
Watch a 20-second rainfall: water runs down the rib valleys, off the rim, through a grated perimeter channel to a rear sump, and on through a buried pipe to the 25,000-litre underground reservoir.
Indicative engineering visualisation — not a certified design; final drainage and storage to be engineered for site rainfall and soil.
Held to the ground
A cyclone tries to lift a light EPS monocoque, not crush it. Follow the hold-down path from helical screw piles through the ring beam, rods and tension straps to the apex ring — then turn on the wind.
Indicative engineering visualisation — not a certified design; final anchoring to be engineered for site wind region and soil.
Commercial Applications
Built for developers, operators and governments across the Pacific and tropical cyclone belt — where beautiful accommodation must also be the safest building on the site.
A village of shells makes an instantly recognisable resort — low-impact, quick to deploy, and photogenic from every angle. Guests sleep in a sculpture; operators get a building that stays open through the storm season.
The Luxury fit-out — clam-shell beds, a round dining table for six in the double-height living space, a bathroom tucked beneath the ~18 m² sleeping loft and a garden deck — turns a single shell into a standalone villa or honeymoon suite with a private pool.
The Economy fit-out sleeps four in curtained cubicles, with two more beds on the braced sleeping loft above the bathroom — its walls are seismic-rated shear walls for Pacific sites — plus a shared kitchen and workspace: dignified, cyclone-safe housing for resort staff, remote crews and island communities.
Lightweight, rapidly assembled and self-sufficient in water and power, the Elohim™ Shell is a permanent answer to the recovery problem — housing that will still be standing after the next cyclone.
